How to Really Make a Change in Your Life... Starting Now

How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I'm committed to?” ―

Anthony Robbins

If Life is Holding you Back Please Pay Close Attention

Picture this:

You get home from work, you sit on the couch, and you ponder the ideas you've had all day. You decide to make a change in your life, you know, to really go for it this time.

Then, suddenly, the idea fades away as you slump into the couch binge watching Friends for the 7th time.

Your brain wants to relax, and instead of making a change you come up with a reason not too. Plus, when push comes to shove, deep down you feel as if you really don't want to.

It doesn't matter what the idea is… or even how big the change will be. It can literally be anything.

You've been there, and to be quite blunt with you, I know you have. I mean… you wouldn't be sitting here reading this if you haven't been, right?

I'm going to be a bit tough on you today, but I want you to know that you're far from alone. This is something that happens to everyone, and I'm going to show you why in just a second.

If you're ready to take that next step -the step you've been waiting to take for so long- please read on.

Now, I want to let you in on a little secret. Yeah, this is how we'll get those juices flowing, and once I show you the secret I'll show you how to beat it.

Think about it this way: how does change feel to you? Like right now… right this second?

You probably began to panic a bit just reading that, and there is one simple reason as to why we panic; our brains absolutely despise change.

Now, this isn't a bad thing, and it's something we've inherited from our ancestors a long time ago. It's a way to keep us safe and secure -because making a change can leave us open to the unknown.

Once you finally realize that it's a type of self sabotage embedded within you… well… the problem becomes one that can be addressed right?

I mean hey, it sounds hard to fight your own brain yeah, but at least you know what the problem is.

The first step to solving a problem is to realize you have one, and the second step is to know where it comes from.

Now that I've cleared the air a bit, I want to set some time aside to show you how to beat this. I have 5 key ways to take your own brain to the next level, so you'll definitely want to pay close attention.

I haven't lost you yet, right? Let's get down to it, roll our sleeves up, and take a look at the 5 reasons you're holding yourself back from success.

Goals

It all starts with a goal right? I mean think about, you set a destination and create a path to reach that destination. Sounds simple right?

Would I be wrong if I said you've probably done this numerous times to no avail? It all starts with your goals, but not the goal itself -the journey.

What do I mean by this?

What I'm saying is simple when you think about it. You've probably set a goal like "I'm going to be a millionaire one day." That's a pretty common one, right?

Obviously becoming a millionaire is easier said than done, and seems impossible at first, which is why you never take any action. It's such a broad goal.

So instead of saying "I'll be a millionaire one day," break the massive goal down a bit. Make it a goal of yours to slowly increase your income until you get there.

Vision and ambition

Now that you have that goal in mind, or that change you want to make, visualize it. This is something you may not be used too, but it's also something that's holding you back.

I'm not just telling you to google an image of success and stare at it, I'm telling you to visualize what that success looks like.

So what I want you to do is write down your goals. Write down your desires. Write everything down. Not only will this make everything seem real, but it will solidify the path you need to take in order to get there.

When it comes to visualization I want you to really consider why this goal is important. Why will this goal make you happy, and how will this change create a better image of yourself.

Once you've started to daydream about this goal all of the time… your brain will start to back you up again. You'll start to seize that confidence you need.

A little bit of vision will get you a very long way.

Belief in Yourself

If you're reading this post, and have made it this far, you might not believe in yourself yet. I'm here to tell you that it's okay to not believe.

We've been conditioned our whole lives to believe in greater successes, but for some reason nobody seems to get there. You have to be wondering why right?

The answer is simple. You have a vision, you have a goal, but you don't think it's realistic. I get that, some of my own goals have seemed like a pipedream at first.

Once you start believing in yourself, and I mean really believing, you'll start to think those goals are more attainable. Successful people believe in themselves, and this is how they've reached success in all areas of their lives.

This might sound like it's easy… but it's not. This is why it's crucial that you start with small goals. Once you reach those small goals, trust me on this, all of a sudden you'll start to believe that you can do it.

Discipline

Discipline is something everyone thinks they have, but to be honest with you right now, there is always room for improvement. This is why you need discipline… and you need to give yourself tough love too.

Make sure that you set a routine -a good routine- and stick with it. Make sure that you know what your goals are, and what it takes to complete them.

You need to make sure that you're able to get yourself into a successful pattern. Think about it… everyone has habits right? Why not change some of yours?

Even if its waking up early in the morning, if you do it for a month straight, it will start to become a habit. This is what I call natural discipline, and you'll need this to reach that success or change you want.

Have a Backup Plan

At the end of the day, and I hate to say this I really do, not every plan will work out the way you want it to. Unfortunately… this is just part of life.

This is the final step of the process, because it will help your brain make the realization that change is okay.

So you need to have a backup plan in order to put your mind at ease. Plus, aside from just putting your mind at ease, a good backup plan can save yourself if the need arises.

I hope this helps you, and while it may seem harsh, sometimes harsh is what you need.

My whole point here is -keep in mind I'm using the millionaire concept as an example- is that you need to set small goals to conquer on your way to hitting the big one.

Once you start doing this your small victories will add up. Those little victories will give you confidence, and in doing so, that big goal will seem a little bit more reachable each day.
